The 2022 1 oz Gold American Eagle Bullion Coin from the United States Mint contains one full troy ounce of pure gold, which by law, is taken from newly mined sources in the United States. The balance of the coin’s composition consists of silver and copper, added to increase the coin’s durability and to help resist scratching and marring. Authorized by Congress in 1985 and first minted in 1986, American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins are minted according to the durable, 22-karat standard for circulating gold coinage.
Security Feature
An anti-counterfeiting protection has been incorporated into the reeded edge of this bullion coin! On the bottom edge of the obverse (top edge of reverse) for Type 2 coins only, there is now a flattened spot, or “missing reed” which indicates an authentic U.S. Mint product.
